Xavier Track & Field Ties for 8th. Sophomore Jakyrah Spearman has Big Day in Shot and Discus

Xavier Track & Field spent last Saturday at Shadow Mountain High School for the Ron Smith Classic. Xavier tied for 8th place out of 25 teams, but Saturday’s goal was not about the team score; it was about individual personal bests.

In the personal-best department, Sophomore Jakyrah Spearman shined above the rest of the Gators. She PR’d in two events, and both improvements were significant.

She improved by a whopping 17 feet, 10 inches in the Discus: from 71-08 to 89-06.
In the Shot Put, Jakyrah improved by a half-inch shy of one foot: from 25-05.50 to 26-05.00.
