Last week, Xavier Track & Field participated in two meets

  • Wednesday (3/19): North Canyon & Xavier at Horizon. This was more of a JV meet as the varsity-level athletes prepared for the weekend’s huge Chandler Rotary Invitational.
  • Friday & Saturday (3/21, 3/22): The Chandler Rotary, which drew around 150 teams, including schools from outside of Arizona.

Forty-five Gators set Personal Records

Two Javelin All-Time Xavier Top-Ten Marks Achieved

  • SR Alexa Zowine broke her own School Record by eleven feet (minus 1 inch): from 122-1 to 133-0.
  • FR Addie Bandura, in her first Javelin competition ever, crashed the Javelin Top Ten party at #9 with a throw of 87-6. Remember, she’s only a freshman, and it was her first time throwing the javelin in competition.

Four Personal Records, Including a School Record

  • Alexa Zowine broke her own Javelin school record (122-1) on Wednesday of last week (133-0), and then again on Saturday of the same week (137-0). I predict 140 ft is just around the corner.
  • SR Kaitlyn Markham ran a HUGE PR on Friday night in the 3200m.
    – Prior to 2025, her 3200m PR was 11:38
    – On March 7, she ran an 11-second PR (11:27)
    – On March 21, she ran a 23-second PR (11:04)
    – Kaitlyn is just a hair above five seconds from entering the legendary Xavier All-Time Top-Ten list for the 3200m. The 3200m Top-Ten List contains the “who’s who” of Xavier Distance Running History. All ten on the list broke the eleven-minute barrier, with #10 coming in at 11:59.46.
  • JR Ella Wadsworth shaved a whopping 17 seconds off her PR in the 3200m. From 11:55 to 11:38.
  • JR Kennedy Frakes transitioned from a soccer career to track, running the 800m for first time ever on March 7 (2:28.23). She improved in her second 800m race: March 14 (2:25.42). And again, in her third 800m race: March 22 (2:24.5). Realistic Goal: sub 2:20.

Kennedy ran and won the first heat of the 800m (the slowest section of three heats). She took 12th place overall. She beat some girls from the third heat (the fastest section) and all but two girls from the second heat (the second fastest section). You can watch Kennedy race in the following video:
