Last Friday, March 14, Xavier Track & Field competed in the Devon Allen Invitational on their home track. The Gators took second to perennial track & field powerhouse, Chandler.

Top Three Gator Highlights

Sophomore pole vaulter, Susannah Root, getting a Xavier All-Time Pole Vault Top-Ten performance.

  • As of last season, her PR was 7ft-9in. In the first meet of the season, she vaulted 9-0, good enough to enter the Xavier All-Time Pole Vault Top-Ten in a tie for 5th.
  • On Friday, she improved to 9-6 and moved into a tie for #4 All-Time. Keep in mind, she is at the front end of her sophomore season. It will be fun to watch her climb the pole vault top-ten ladder.

Senior short sprinter, long sprinter, and long jumper, Vivian Amoia nabbed a Xavier long jump top-ten performance.

  • Going into her senior year, Vivian’s name was nowhere to be seen on the individual event top-ten charts. After Friday, she now resides on three non-relay top-ten lists.
  • During the first week of competition, she entered the 100m top-ten chart at #2 (phenomenal!) and the 400m top-ten list at #10. On Friday, she entered the long jump top-ten at #6. She improved her PR in the long jump from 16-9 to 17-8.75. That’s quite a leap (pun intended).

Senior Eleanor Borchard took first place in the 300 hurdles.

  • Borchard was the only Gator to take first in an event. Last year she took third at State in the 300 hurdles.
  • Her name is on five Xavier All-Time Individual Event Top-Ten charts and she owns the school record in both hurdle races.

Other Outstanding Gator Performances

2nd Place:

  • Senior Kaitlyn Markham, 1600m. PR goes from 5:19 to 5:13.
  • 4×400 Relay Team: Marley Stoller, Amoia, Kennedy Frakes, Borchard

3rd Place

  • Junior Kennedy Frakes, 800m. After playing club soccer in the spring during her freshman and sophomore years, Kennedy decided instead to join Xavier Track this year as a junior. Her first-ever 800m race was 2:28 during the first week of competition; On Friday she ran 2:25.
  • Borchard, 100 Hurdles.

4th Place

  • Senior Marley Stoller, 400m. Marley ranks in the Xavier All-Time Top-Ten in three individual events: 100m (#4), 200m (#2), 400m (#3)
