Xavier Badminton Victorious in First Round of State

#4 Xavier Badminton defeated #13 Mountain View last night 6-0 at the Xavier Activity Center. With Xavier winning all six singles matches, no doubles matches were played.

Only two singles matches required three sets to determine the victor.

The following girls won 2-0:

#1 Maggie Henry (21-17, 21-16)
#2 Corinne Ladha (21-5, 21-2)
#3 Reagan Perez (21-14, 21-18)
#6 Sam Riggle (21-15, 21-9)

#4 Alexa Coker and #5 Abby Alcock both amazingly battled back from losing their first sets to win 2-1. Alexa (18-21, 21-13, 21-8). Abby (19-21, 21-5, 21-11).

The Gators earned the right to play in the quarterfinals by winning their first-round match. Tonight, they play #5 Perry, whom they played on October 2 and won 5-4. We expect another evenly-matched contest this afternoon.

A victory tonight would send the Gators to a highly-probable semifinal match against #1 Hamilton.
