The Brophy/Xavier Mountain Biking team traveled to McDowell Mountain Regional Park, ten minutes north of Fountain Hills, on Saturday, October 19, for the final race of the regular season. They finished second in the South Conference Division 1 for the second race in a row.
The top five point-getters for Xavier:
- (556) Catherine George: 3rd place Girls Varsity race
- (488) Clara Findlay: 7th place Girls JV1 race
- (464) Miranda Rodriguez: 5th place Girls JV2 race
- (464) Stefanie Konopka: 5th place Girls Freshman race
- (448) Abby Seeley: 7th place Girls JV2 race
Race #4 was 5.6 miles long, “comprised of swooping turns and short steep inclines and descents” for the Varsity and JV1 categories. The top two Xavier girls took 1 hour, 23 minutes and 1 hour, 35 minutes to complete the course.
Individuals in each race category (Var, JV1, JV2, Frosh) in the South Conference Divisions 1 & 2 are ranked by their season point total for the four-race season series after each race.
Xavier’s best overall final ranking in each race category after the last race of the regular season:
- Girls Varsity Race: Catherine George 3rd out of 8
- Girls JV1 Race: Clara Findlay 4th out of 10
- Girls JV2 Race: Abby Seeley 5th out of 32
- Girls Freshmen Race: Stefanie Konopka 5th out of 15
Coach Rich Perrott said, “This is the first time ever that Xavier Mountain Biking has placed a rider in the top 5 overall conference in all 4 girls categories.”
Brophy/Xavier finished the regular season ranked 3rd place in Season Totals for Division 1.
The State Championships are two weeks away:
