On Tuesday, October 1st, #4 Xavier Badminton met #2 Sunnyslope and lost a close one 4-5, causing the Gators to swap places with #5 Perry in the Division 1 State rankings.
The very next day, October 2nd, #5 Xavier faced #4 Perry for the opportunity to reclaim #4. It was the second home game in a row for the Gators.
After finishing the six singles matches, the team score stood at 4-2 Xavier.
- Xavier’s #1, Maggie Henry won 2-0.
- #2 Corinne Ladha won 2-0.
- #3 Reagan Perez lost 0-2.
- #4 Abby Alcock lost 0-2.
- #5 Alexa Coker won 2-1 after losing the first set.
- #6 Sam Riggle won 2-1 after losing the first set.

The Gators needed just one doubles victory to win the match.
- Reagan/Abby doubles team lost 0-2.
- Alexa/Sam doubles team lost 0-2.
- The match score reflected a deadlock at four points apiece.
It was now up to the #1/#2 team of Maggie and Corinne to beat Perry’s top doubles team.
- Maggie/Corinne lost the first set 14-21. . . PRESSURE!
- Won the second set 21-18.
- The third set was deuce at 20 points each. . . PRESSURE!
- It took extra serves for Maggie/Corinne to finally win 23-21.
