The Xavier Frosh/Soph team took first out of 20 schools at the Becky Matthews Frosh/Soph Invitational at Desert Vista on Friday, April 1.
Xavier had just one EVENT WINNER: Mackenzie Lopez in 300 hurdles with a PR of 47.80, less than 2 tenths of a second away from making the Xavier All-Time Top Ten list in this event.
However, with the top 8 places in each event adding to a team’s score, Xavier produced 21 SCORING MARKS. The 100m and 800m both saw Xavier putting 4 athletes into scoring positions.
There were 15 PERSONAL BESTS by Xavier athletes. Every PR is significant because it shows the athlete that she is improving, but here are some of the more notable improvements:
— Caroline Vietor: 16 sec. in the 1600
— Lis Montoya: over 13 ft in the Discus
— Emily Alaimo: over 7 ft in the Discus
