The Father Olivier Track & Field Frosh/Soph Invitational, held at the Brophy Track on Thursday, is one of several invitationals in Arizona that gives 9th and 10th graders a chance to take center stage and see their performance count towards a team score.
The Xavier FR/SO athletes finished in a tie for third place out of 18 teams.
But the more important issue for these athletes is, “Did I get my personal record?”
Many track & field athletes are not in a position to be concerned with what place they finish in, but every time they participate in an event, they compete against their personal record for that event.
Over thirty Gator Personal Records were conquered at the Fr. Olivier meet.
Below are some of the more drastic improvements:
- Addie Bandura: 4ft-8in – Javelin – from 87-6 to 92-2.
In Addie’s first Javelin competition ever, she made it to the Xavier All-Time Javelin Top-Ten list, ranking #9. The Fr. Olivier meet was her second Javelin competition.
She is now ranked #5 in the Javelin Top-Ten list.–
