Xavier defeated Perry 64-51 on Saturday in the annual double-header played in the Brophy Gym. Once a year, Perry brings their Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys to battle the Gators and Broncos.

Xavier’s 13-point victory does not accurately represent the competitive nature of the contest. The Pumas were just three points behind, 39-36, with a minute and a half left in the 3rd quarter. With less than six minutes left in the 4th quarter, Xavier led by just four points, 46-42.

However, an 8-point Gator run over the next three minutes and twenty seconds pretty much sealed the deal for Xavier.

The aggressive play from Sophomore Sariah McNabb and Junior Sade Charles wore down the Pumas, who did not have an answer for the duo.

Sariah often sped past Puma players on the way from one end of the court to the other. Then, she would drive quickly to the basket for a score, often drawing Puma fouls. She made 8 out of 12 free throw attempts. Adding her four 2-point buckets and three 3-point shots, Sariah finished with a game-high 25 points.

Sade, also able to shoot the three or drive effectively to the basket, made three 3-pointers and all six of her free throws to finish with 19 points.

Out of the fifteen video clips making the highlight video, Sariah made 7 and Sade made 4. Sariah’s highlights include a steal, a tipped pass, and an offensive rebound put-back for two.

THE FACILITATOR

I have to mention Senior Lucy Sanford, the facilitator, who did more than just facilitate; she contributed eleven points to Xavier score.
