The Brophy/Xavier Mountain Biking team traveled to Wren Arena on the Fort Huachuca military base just outside of Sierra Vista on Sunday, November 3 for the Arizona Cycling Association State Championships. They took 8th place out of fourteen Arizona Division 1 mountain biking teams.
The top five point-getters for Xavier:
- (483) Catherine George: Girls Varsity race – 13th place out of 17 participants
- (460) Clara Findlay: Girls JV1 race – 11th place out of 21
- (408) Miranda Rodriguez: Girls JV2 race – 13th place out of 34
- (408) Stefanie Konopka: Girls Freshman race – 13th place out of 25
- (396) Abby Seeley: Girls JV2 race – 15th place out of 34
Course Description (from the Arizona Cycling Association website)
“At over 5,000 feet in elevation, this course rolls through pine trees, oak trees and grassy fields along the foothills of the Huachuca Mountains. You will encounter small boulders to maneuver around, roots, short steep climbs and a few soft sandy areas. The 4.1 mile course runs clockwise and climbs 348 feet per lap.“
The girls take in the neighborhood of one and a half hours to ride the course.
