After attaining a 1-4 win-loss record on October 1, Xavier Flag Football has established a four-game win streak. Their record has improved to 5-4.
On Tuesday, October 29, Xavier defeated Corona del Sol 13-7 on the Aztec’s home field. Corona struck first with a touchdown and extra point in the opening quarter. Corona del Sol: 7-0.
The Gators responded in the second quarter with a 13-play scoring drive ending with a seven-yard “designed QB run” by Ana Matuz Moran. After a rare unsuccessful extra-point attempt, the scoreboard had Corona leading 7-6.
The Gators scored again on Xavier’s second series of plays coming out of halftime. Nine plays into this drive, Gigi Bulkley “hauled in a 36-yard pass from Matuz Moran with a defender right on her”. Cooper Hidalgo nailed the extra point as usual, and the 13-7 score stood until the end of the game.
Note of Interest: Xavier executed a ten-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter; however, it was called back because of a blocking penalty.
Xavier’s next Flag Football game is Halloween night at 5 p.m. on Xavier’s Petznick Field against a tough Millennium Tigers team. Gator flag football games are fun to watch.
