On September 12, the Xavier Golf Team played in the Aguila Invitational, a one-day, 18-hole event featuring twenty-four schools. Xavier won the tournament by seven strokes over second-place Pinnacle. Here’s the top six teams:
Sophomore Alexis Lamadrid, Xavier’s #1 seed, finished in a three-way tie for 3rd on the individual leaderboard with a 71 (-1).
Alexis had an amazing finish to her round on the par 4, 18th hole. Her approach shot landed forty to fifty feet above the hole. No problem. She nailed the putt for a birdie three. You can see her 18th-hole putt in the video at end of this article.
The rest of the Xavier players finished as follows out of 123 golfers :
- 74(+2) T-7th — Junior Isabella Piazza
- 81(+9) 23rd —- Junior Sophie Pe Benito-Brooks
- 82(+10) T-25th – Junior Ellie von Kolen
- 86(+14) T-43rd – Senior Carrie Doss
- 92(+20) Junior Natalia Lamadrid played as an extra
