Year after year it seems that Xavier Cross Country shows off its depth with strong non-varsity teams, and that tradition showed up at The Peaks Invitational on Saturday up north in Flagstaff.
The Xavier non-varsity crew of fifteen runners ran in the Girls 5K Open race — 12 teams, 148 runners — and easily overpowered the competition. Xavier scored just eleven points above the lowest possible score (15) and beat second place by 47 points.
Four Gators occupied the top-seven group of finishers. Annie Quan and LilyGrace Anderson snatched the first two spots.
Xavier Top Five:
1st: SO Annie
2nd: FR LilyGrace
5th: FR Theresa Gove
7th: FR Evelyn Montes
11th: SO Sophia DeCara
These five girls finished within 47 seconds of each other; a fairly tight group. Notice that three of our top five are frosh.
