Xavier Softball won all six games of the three-day Sunrise Mountain Softball Tournament that ran Thursday through Saturday, February 22-24
The tournament marked the beginning of their journey through the 2024 season.
On Thursday:
> 11-1 win over 6A Mountain Ridge
> 11-5 win over 4A Coconino
On Friday:
> 10-0 win over 5A Ironwood Ridge
Saturday was single-elimination Bracket Play
> 13-3 win over 5A Ironwood Ridge (Quarterfinals)
> 12-2 win over 4A Deer Valley (Semifinals)
> 8-2 win over 6A Mountain Ridge (Championship)
Xavier scored 69 runs to 13 runs for opponents
Pertaining to batting, pitching, and base running stats, Frosh Angie Falls and Seniors Lauren Putz and Tabitha von Kolen were the key Xavier players for the tournament:
Frosh Angie Falls
> As the primary pitcher: 17 innings pitched (68 batters faced)
– Earned Run Ave (runs per 7-innings): 0.82
– Allowed just 5 hits & 2 runs
– Struck out 24 batters (1 strikeout for every 3 batters faced)
