Xavier Cross Country traveled to San Diego on Friday to participate in Saturday’s Mt. Carmel/ASICS Cross Country Invitational. The Gators competed in four races: D1 Frosh, D1 Soph, D1 Juniors, and the D1 Varsity Invitational race.
In the D1 Frosh Girls, Sophomore Girls, and Junior Girls races, Xavier did not have the required 5 entries to qualify for a team score.
The top two runners for the Frosh Gators were Annie Quan (27th) and Katheryn Castle (28th) in a race featuring 140 runners.
The top two runners for the Sophomore Gators were CC Luna (58th) and Eva Wilson (63rd) in a race featuring 107 runners.
The top two runners for the Junior Gators were Ellie Hilsabeck (40th) and Karina Zaveri (42nd) in a race featuring 108 runners.
In the Varsity Invitational Race, Xavier finished a distant 2nd behind a strong Del Norte squad, whose top 5 runners finished in the top 11 places.
In a race featuring 129 participants and 10 teams qualifying for a team score because of having 5 or more runners, Xavier’s top 5 finished in 9th, 13th, 15th, 17th, and 28th overall.
For team scoring purposes, the Gators’ top 5 were:
— 8th Julia Russo (SR)
— 11th Lily Beaver (SR)
— 13th Kaitlyn Markham (JR)
— 15th Ella Wadsworth (SO)
— 23rd Maggie Mostoller (JR)
