Xavier Basketball traveled “all the way” to Glendale, AZ — State Farm Stadium – for the Section 7 Girls Weekend Basketball Tournament June 15-17. How large was this tournament?
- Over 140 girls basketball teams
- Represented by 8 states
- Eight 16-team brackets being played on 12 basketball courts under the Cardinal Stadium roof over 3 days
- Each team getting 4 games
- College coaches representing around 80 universities (many from Division 1: Duke, Univ. of North Carolina, Univ. of Michigan, etc.) from across the nation scouting the athletes
Xavier competed in the Arizona Family Bracket.
First Round: 55-42 Win over Sage Hill, CA
Quarterfinals: 73-54 Win over Chaminade, CA
Semifinals: 59-65 Loss to eventual Bracket Champion, Etiwanda, CA
3rd/4th Place Game: 35-51 Loss to Lone Peak, UT, to finish in 4th Place
Important Note: Xavier’s Summer Basketball Tournaments marked the return of highly-talented Sarah Miller ’24, who missed her entire junior year last season. We are looking forward to seeing her play during the upcoming 2023-24 season.
